The North Fulton Amateur Radio League (NFARL) is a vibrant and active amateur radio club serving the North Fulton area of Georgia. Founded in 1977, NFARL has been dedicated to promoting the hobby of amateur radio and fostering a sense of community among local ham radio enthusiasts for over four decades. The club's diverse activities and friendly atmosphere make it an excellent resource for hams in the North Fulton area to learn, grow, and contribute to the amateur radio community.
The Atlanta Radio Club (ARC) is one of the oldest and most active amateur radio organizations in Georgia, founded in March 1911. With over 100 members, the club is dedicated to promoting and advancing the hobby of amateur radio in the Metro-Atlanta area. The club owns, operates, or supports 11 repeaters in the metro area, providing extensive communication coverage for its members.
ARC is deeply involved in the local ham radio community, helping to operate the Atlanta Hamfestival and offering free license testing sessions in collaboration with other local radio clubs. The club's commitment to education and community service makes it a valuable resource for both new and experienced ham radio operators in the Atlanta area.
The Sawnee Amateur Radio Association (SARA) is comprised of Amateur Radio Operators from Forsyth County and the North Georgia area. Founded on August 10, 2009, SARA welcomes both licensed Amateur Radio Operators and those interested in becoming operators.
While I have not officially joined SARA yet, there is an active group of members that meet every month at the United Way building in Cumming, GA. The local repeater is also quite busy with helpful commentary and the occasional rag chew.
I am also a member of the SKCC which was formed to promote mechanical straight keys in CW operation.
SKCC was created to keep the spirit of the annual Straight Key Night (SKN) event alive all year round. We take our name and our heritage very seriously and remind members to use only fully mechanical keying devices – straight key, semi-automatic key (bug), or sideswiper (cootie) – for all SKCC related QSOs, events, awards and activities.
